SKKF is a non-partisan and non-religious interest organization dedicated to promoting the interests of visually impaired artists and craftspeople within its field of activity, and to encouraging continued professional engagement.

SKKF is a national organization governed by a board of five members. Since 2010, we have been one of the associations affiliated with the Swedish Association of the Visually Impaired (Synskadades Riksförbund). The association was founded in 1971 and, by the end of 2023, had 34 active visually impaired artists and craftspeople residing across Sweden, along with 8 supporting members and 2 honorary members.

Our members create art and crafts using a wide variety of techniques and materials. They also collaborate on collective artworks and politically engaged art. Tactile art is especially encouraged.

Applications for membership must be submitted in writing to the board, which prepares the matter and makes a decision after the applicant’s professional skills have been assessed by an impartial jury appointed by the board.

Thanks to contributions from various sources over the years, SKKF has maintained the financial stability needed to carry out its activities and continue evolving.
